Don't let the name fool you... no joke, this hike kicked our ass. Literally. What looked like a relatively normal hike from the bottom (maybe it was because the upper half of the mountain was shrouded in fog until we got up to the final peak), turned into an eight hour hike to the peak of Cradle Mountain, one of Tasmania's tallest peaks.

We hiked up to Merion's lookout first, where you can look out over Lake St. Clair and Crater Lake.

From there, we hiked the overland trail (very tundra-like) to reach the base of the mountain. Everything from that point was straight up -- over rock, over boulder, past cliff after cliff in periods of sun and fog.

At the final point, we wondered if it would be worth ascending the last portion of the peak, but Steph reminded us that we wouldn't be back here anytime soon -- so up we went.

The views from the top.

Near the point where we started by Lake St. Clair, with Cradle Mountain in the background... That's what we hiked!
