Bring on the Claritin... That's a Whole Lotta Nature

Yay!! We're back online, and in a new apartment, which means we've got some work to do catching up on the very busy past week.

First off... last Wednesday, since it was so gloriously hot (95 degrees, I think?), we decided to make a visit to the Royal Botanic Gardens, a beautifully landscaped Melbourne version of Central Park (ish). The RBG contains several memorials and statutes, plus a music bowl venue for concerts, some lakes and all kinds of plants. It is dedicated to the preservation and education of botanical stuff. According to my Eyewitness Travel guidebook: These adjoining gardens, established in 1852, form the green heart of Melbourne on what was originally a swamp on the edge of the city. The Botanic Gardens house one of the finest collections of botanic species in the world, as well as being highly regarded for their landscape design.

Not only are these gardens incredibly beautiful and open to the public to frolic amongst the foliage, but the Govenor of Victoria's residence is buried amongst the greenery. Talk about a backyard!

A winding stone staircase makes up part of one of the many paths through the RBG.

This is Jay in one of the many structures dispersed throughout the RBG.
